It’s a new cocktail bar from the Drexl owners
The East Bay’s cocktail scene is growing, and this week’s opening of The Miranda only adds fuel to the alcoholic fire. It’s an upscale cocktail bar from Drexl owners Demetrius Chapin-Rienzo, Adi Taylor and Nathan Johnson.
Oakland-based architecture and design firm Arcsine (Duende, Agave) took care of the interiors, which were designed in the style of a hotel lounge (minus the hotel). Details include a registration desk with mail slots full of keys and letters, a custom wall covering by West Coast-based Kevin Barry Fine Art, and many niche seating areas with ottomans, banquettes, and some standing areas. All in all, there are 44 seats.
Like the design, drink names are hotel-inspired, with cocktails like the Staycation (Pimms, Falernum, house ginger syrup, lemon, orange bitters, egg white) and the Balcony Sunrise (mezcal, Dolin Blanc, lime, grenadine, peach bitters, and espresso tincture).
The team is also opening a more casual restaurant called Fort Green, with food from Bar Tartine chefs Cortney Burns and Nic Balla — stay tuned for more details on that. For now, though, The Miranda is open daily from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.
